10 Aug FY2026 NOFO Update
Hello Essex Community,
Please be advised of an important update regarding the FY2026 Continuum of Care (CoC) Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO). As of Friday, August 7, 2026, a federal court ordered the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to vacate the FY2026 CoC NOFO. As a result, HUD is required to rescind the current NOFO, and the funding decisions made under the current NOFO are no longer in effect.
At this time, there are no FY2026 CoC funds available for distribution, and further guidance from HUD is needed regarding the next steps in the funding process, including whether an amended NOFO will be issued. The NJ-504 Newark/Essex County Continuum of Care will continue to monitor developments, including court proceedings, HUD guidance, and information from national partners. Additional updates will be shared with the community as more information becomes available.
